Born and raised in Milwaukee, Suzi has been coming "up North" since she was 14. Suzi graduated from UW-Madison (Psychology and German) and received her master’s in Education from Alverno College. She also is a Certified Personal Trainer and an E-RYT 500 Yoga Instructor.

Teaching yoga for over 20 years, Suzi studied under Rod Stryker, Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, Todd Norian and Erich Schiffman. Suzi completed her 500-hour certification training with Mark Stephens in Santa Cruz, CA.

One of Suzi’s students said, "Suzi introduced me to the art of yoga. She is always concerned about her student’s well-being and she will adjust each pose as needed to fit each student’s capability and encourages you to recognize and accept any limitations."

Tara Stella

Tara’s love for the Northwoods brought her family up to this area 2 1/2 years ago from Minneapolis, where she was born and raised. Tara enjoys the area with her husband and two boys, ages 10 and 13, as well as working at the MAC and helping members.

Ashlye Klug

Ashlye was born and raised in the Northwoods living in Mercer most of her life. She is a full-time dental assistant but her passion for all things health and fitness led her to The MAC. "It truly makes me happy to see people working towards and reaching their goals. I want to make a difference. I love helping and interacting with people."

Kathy Scheler

After a career in nursing, Kathy and her husband decided to retire to the Northwoods. She enjoys being outside, hiking, swimming, boating, and reading. Last winter Kathy joined the MAC and loved it. "It really helped me through the long winters up here. I thought, what a nice place the MAC was and how I would love to work here."

Pat Ahonen

Pat, originally from Clarkston (MI), earned her degree in Vocal Music from Northern Michigan University where she met her husband, Tom. Having lived all over the US, as well as Sydney (Australia), they have settled in Manitowish Waters. "I love working at the MAC! Encouraging others and providing great customer service is what I enjoy most. It is my wish to make all people who come through the door feel welcome and inspired to be the best they can be!"

Frances Whitfield: Strong Bodies

Frances has been physically active all her life; she trained as a bodybuilder (1983-1990) and taught aerobics (1984 -1988). Frances exercises daily by practicing yoga, biking, hiking and lifting weights and is an avid long-distance hiker.

Frances is actively involved in Manitowish Waters and is looking forward to sharing this wellness opportunity with people of all ages and abilities.

Becky Bettin: Water Aerobics, Strength Training and PiYo

Becky is a certified group fitness instructor and has been involved in the health and fitness field for years. She resides in Mercer and enjoys spending time on the water, hiking, sand volleyball, coaching middle school basketball, snowshoeing, and all things outdoors!

"My favorite part of teaching classes is hearing from clients how much stronger they feel after attending class." Becky can modify all training techniques to fit where you are in your fitness journey.

















Abby Samardich

Abby is currently in the process of getting her bachelor’s degree in Community Health and Wellness. She grew up in the Northwoods (Bessemer, MI) and loves the outdoors, running, biking, hiking, kayaking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Abby loves the fitness lifestyle and enjoys staying active. "I believe it is one of the keys to living a happy/healthy life. I love to see people succeed and better themselves and I am here to answer any questions that members may have!"

Rae Bassette

Born and raised in the Northwoods, Rae’s passion for fitness and helping people has led her to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with others. She enjoys all the activities the north has to offer including hiking, biking, spending time on the lake and especially cross-country skiing. She has a Bachelor’s in Health, Wellness and Fitness and a minor in Coaching from University of Wisconsin –Stout.
